From 5 May through to Buy Local Day on 27 June, we turn the spotlight onto the amazing independent businesses that make the Sunshine Coast so unique!
If you’re a local business, this hub is your launching pad. We're encouraging every business to get involved.
In the Business Hub, you’ll find everything you need to join the fun, boost your visibility, and help create a region‑wide celebration of all things local.
With this campaign as a platform, we showcase to the community why it’s important to MAKE EVERYDAY BUY LOCAL DAY!

1. Grab the media kit
This kit is your secret weapon for Buy Local Day. Inside you'll find:
- Social media tiles
- In-store signage
- Ready-to-use captions
Download it. Use it. Shine with it.
2. Post a video and win
Upload a Buy Local Day video for a chance to win a $5,000 marketing package! And, each week Council will feature a video on social media.
How to enter
- Post a 30-60 second video on Facebook or Instagram.
- Use the simple script - "Make everyday Buy Local Day at Business Name".
- Write a caption about what makes your business so special.
- Include the Buy Local Day date: Saturday 27 June 2026.
- Tag @SunshineCoastCouncil and #BuyLocalDay2026.
Use this video as a chance to get creative, have fun and show off your amazing business!
What is included in the $5,000 marketing package?
This specialised package is designed to give your business the tools, support and confidence to take your marketing to the next level.
Included is:
- A personalised growth and content strategy with clear actions
- Professional marketing assets to support your strategy (e.g. social media, landing page or lead magnet)
- Expert training and 3 months of hands-on support to help you implement with confidence
How will you know if you're featured?
If you’re chosen to be featured, a Council representative will reach out to coordinate your video.

3. Register your activation or event
Activations bring the magic and turn foot traffic into actual customers. Here are some examples to get your juices flowing.
- Dress up your shop to reflect your brand/product/customer base/values.
- Tastings and samples to show off your products.
- Meet the makers so community meet the people behind the products.
- Kids corner - create a fun hands-on experience for kids as parents shop.
- Bring your dog day - pet treats and photo opportunities.
- Live music or entertainment by a local performer.
- Mini workshops using your products.
BIG IDEA - team up with neighbouring businesses in your street to create a buzz. Contact your local Chamber of Commerce for support.
Big or small, it all makes a difference. And when you register your activation, we add it to the Buy Local Day event page on EventSC so customers can find you.
